So the virus has put a stop to the newly launched Community Fridge operating from our cafe since mid-March however the good work delivering and donating food to those in need in the community has continued. Our volunteers collect daily from from M & S, The Co-op and Lidl and surplus food destined for landfill has been distributed in a variety of ways. Some hand delivered, some by the Hardie Park van and other packages have been collected by amazing volunteers in the community. A wide variety of foods on offer for local people to take if they need. Some residents have offered donations with all proceeds going to Hardie Park. These donations certainly help fuel the van on its daily rounds 
and are gratefully received.
If you are in need or know of somebody who is, please message in confidence to access the service. The local Foodbank offer non perishable goods to families whereas the foods Hardie Park facilitate distribution of are perishables such as breads, pastries, fruit etc.
On occasion when we’ve received bouquets and orchids , Mandie Groves, organising the pop up shop has asked for key workers locally to be nominated to receive the blooms. The green van also delivered breads, pastries and fruit to the Maternity Unit for staff to enjoy during their breaks. JUST AMAZING!
A HUUUGGEE thank you to Mandie who has voluntarily managed the shop for the duration of lockdown. A massive thanks to James Brabyn for driving the van daily to pick up donations and the many volunteers who have stood in on occasion to allow Mandie time to make a well earned cup of tea. You are truly AWESOME! The shop has instilled a fine sense of community locally and enabled many to access a range of free food during difficult times.
